REQUIREMENTS

  • Must hold valid GM License and LCQ
  • Work as a team to ensure exceptional service and dining experiences
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, willing to go the extra mile to ensure guests make the most of their day
  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills, with good attention to detail
  • Have the desire to learn and grow your hospitality career
  • Bar and barista experience
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours as required. (which may include early morning starts, late finishes, weekends and public holidays)
  • Can work on a rotating roster
  • NZQF Level 2 or 3 qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)
    OR least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE - TE MAHI

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about hospitality and have vast experience in supervising in restaurants. To be successful in this role you must have the maturity to manage a shift and lead a team by example.
Can work on a rotating roster. Weekend availability required.
This full-time permanent role (minimum 32 hours per week) is based at Sudima Christchurch City Hotel - The Lane

RESPONSIBILITIES | NGĀ HAEPAPA

  • Supervise day to day operations of food and beverage shifts
  • Conduct effective shift briefings ensuring all colleagues are aware of VIPs, special occasions, daily specials; emphasis on upselling certain products, event schedule
  • Use a leadership style that creates a positive environment where colleagues are motivated to deliver consistently high standards of service while also having fun on the job
  • Supervise Cash handling and banking procedures
  • Prepare daily banking, cash flow, and reports
  • Provide details of any specials and upsell food and beverage options with guests
  • Ensure any accidents, injuries or near misses are recorded and investigated promptly
  • Know the menu options and be able to advise on suitable options for different dietary requirements
  • Prepare hot and cold beverages including barista and alcoholic beverages
  • Set up, arrange, clear and wipe down tables
  • Ensure you deliver excellent guest service
  • Provide support to those with accessibility needs or with children
  • Follow up and resolve any guest complaints
  • Work in all areas of Food & Beverage including conferencing
  • Assist with the preparation of an outlet for service including cleaning and maintaining glassware, flatware and china for service
  • Preparing waiter stations, buffet service, service equipment and materials
  • Assisting with table preparation, set up and break down
  • Planning menus in consultation with the Food and Beverage Manager
  • Planning and organising special functions in consultation with the Conference Coordinator
  • Arranging the purchasing and pricing of goods according to budget
  • Maintaining records of stock levels and financial transactions
  • Ensuring dining facilities comply with health regulations and are clean, functional and of suitable appearance
  • Selecting, training and supervising the restaurant and bar team
  • Take reservations, greet guests and assist in taking orders
