Responsibilities:

  • Follows all established and future Food & Beverage Standard Operating Procedures
  • Knowledgeable about the function and the menu being offered by attending weekly F&B meetings
  • Assists with the planning, organizing and execution of all banquet functions including, but not limited to, breakfast, coffee breaks, luncheons, dinners, cocktail receptions, galas, etc.
  • Promoting a “No Problem Service” environment
  • Stays in constant contact with the host to ensure everything runs seamlessly
  • Supervises service throughout the function to ensure quality service and product quality
  • Is energetic and enthusiastic; enjoys customer service and working with the public
  • Will be required to physically work the floor at events, pinch hitting as a server or bartender
  • Perform well under pressure in a fast paced and sometimes challenging environment
  • Maintains effective communications with other hotel departments to relate clients’ needs/requirements
  • Conducts site inspections for prospective clients, when necessary
  • Checks quality and delivery of catering services prior to their release
  • Trains and coaches the associates on all service standards and ensures 100% compliance
  • Actively promotes an environment conducive to high quality customer service and employee relations by being a positive leadership example.
  • Ensures cleanliness of all outlet areas and holds associates accountable to the assigned daily task lists. Signs off daily lists upon completion.
  • Communicates buffet menu, specials, promotions, etc. to associates.
  • Interacts daily with guests during the peak periods to ensure their satisfaction within the outlet.
  • Deals with customer concerns and listens to their feedback to improve service.
  • Advises kitchen of food quality/presentation concerns.
  • Avoids overtime when possible by effective shift management.
  • Encourages up-selling of all products through coaching and sets up daily up-sell targets
  • Executes promotions and up-selling strategies with F&B team.
  • Conducts inventories for liquor & supplies; maintains optimum stock levels to meet demands.
  • Ensures all associates comply with the hotel uniform and grooming standards.
  • Provides feedback to General Manager on associate performance and makes recommendations for progressive discipline as required, to ensure associate concerns are dealt with in a timely and immediate fashion.
  • Document any discrepancies or violations of Nova Standards and Policies
  • Understands and follows the Health & Safety policies and security requirements.
  • Ensure maintenance of safety and sanitation standards and policies.
  • Assist with ongoing promotions and events
  • Assists with training new team members by CLEARLY outlining expectations & effective training with our Nova Standards.
  • Ensures regular training is conducted with associates for new promotions, menus, etc.
  • Interviews for new team members.
  • Ensures ALL team members are trained on fire safety plan and the procedures within.
  • Assists in the execution of sales and marketing initiatives.
  • Responsible for scheduling, payroll, disciplinary actions, training and mentoring for staff
  • Coaches and trains the associates on the hotel standards/key deliverables and approved methods of service and cleanliness.
  • Ensures customer concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner
  • Access and input information into POS.
  • Communicates with the Lounge and Restaurant and assists when required
  • Oversees the Restaurant and Lounge in the absence of other Supervisors
  • Adheres to all Nova Hotels standards, including Hygiene, Health and Safety, and Guest Interactions.
  • Other projects/duties as assigned.
