Description:
Reporting to the Food Safety Manager, the Food Safety Specialist is responsible to assist with the development, implementation, daily operation, validation and verification of all of the Food Safety Systems which include SQF, HACCP, HARPC, Food Defense, and Intentional Adulteration at Cavendish Farms New Annan Plant 1 and 2.
- Salary : $58,000 - $67,000
- Maintenance of policies and procedures to support the Safe Quality Foods (SQF) program, and other food safety programs in use. These include HACCP, HARPC, Food Defense and Intentional Adulteration.
- Continuous monitoring to ensure food safety at all stages of the operation, including receiving, production, packaging, maintenance, engineering and shipping.
- Perform mock traceability exercises as required by customers and audits
- Responsible for the ongoing FM.QA.40 Food Safety Quality Incident Investigation Reports (FSQIIR’s) program and ensuring completion
- Assist in completing customer complaint investigations.
- Respond to issues from previous shifts (such as metal detector deviations, foreign materials hits and others) that require immediate resolution.
- Serve as QA/Food Safety representative for new capital projects in the plants. This involves coordinating all paperwork and ensuring completion prior to startup.
- Filing/recording any metal detector failures in the spreadsheet for trending purposes
- Assist the Sanitation Supervisors during the OCU process.
- Supervise the Food Safety Coordinators Role
- Coverage for the other Food Safety Specialist during absences
- Conduct the majority of 3rd party audits, including resolution of all non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, food safety, or a related field, preferably within the food manufacturing industry.
- Good understanding and hands-on experience with food safety programs, including HACCP, HARPC, SQF, Food Defense, and Intentional Adulteration or willing to take training in each.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation best practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate and resolve customer complaints effectively
