JOB DESCRIPTION

Aramark Canada is looking for a Food Service Director with management experience in Food, Housekeeping, Facility and Laundry Services for an opportunity to service a Healthcare Facility in Winnipeg MB.
Reporting to the General Manager, The Food Service Director is responsible for developing and executing culinary & dining solutions to meet customer needs and tastes, overseeing food standards and controls in a Long-Term Care Facility. In addition, the Food Service Director is responsible for the financial accountability, and compliance with the standards established by Aramark, regulatory agencies and clients for all services managed.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • Red Seal chef or strong culinary experience is an asset.
  • EVS experience is an asset.
  • Previous experience managing in a unionized environment would be an asset.
  • Menu management, balancing a budget and working within assigned operational costs/budget.
  • Requires a minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience managing operations with financial and operational responsibility.
  • Comfortable using Office365, especially Outlook, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate (both verbal and written) effectively with clients, customers of the client and support staff.
  • P&L accountability and/or contract-managed service experience is desirable.
  • Requires management and leadership skills and the ability to work with confidential employee, client, and Aramark information.
  • A clear Vulnerable Sector Check is a requirement for all qualified candidates.

Responsibilities:

  • The FSD plans, administers and directs all activities related to food, housekeeping and facilities, including financial accountability, and compliance with regulatory & Aramark standards to provide optimal managed services, driving patient and customer satisfaction.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with all departments to provide a unified food service experience for residents, visitors and employees.
  • Ensures staff follow proper food handling procedures including maintaining food in a temperature safety zone.
  • Performs all work in accordance with regulatory safety procedures and requirements including WHMIS, OH&S and Aramark audits.
  • Interacts with Client Management and maintains effective client and customer relations at all levels of client organization. Identifies Aramark service expansion opportunities.
  • Completes food service rounding’s with residents in dining rooms on a weekly basis as per schedule.
  • Works with Dietician to update weekly diet sheets and communicates changes to foodservice staff and assists with menu development.
  • Provides overall direction and manages performance for all supervisors and front-line employees, ensuring employee development, engagement and compliance with human resource-related policies and standards
  • Directs, staffs, and trains the food service department regarding food presentation, quality, cost control, and cash handling.
  • Develops operational component forecasts and can explain variances. Responsible for the component’s accounting functions.
  • Maintains and Verifies Employee work schedules through web-based payroll tracking systems.
  • Develops and maintains strong leadership team
  • Displays polite, spirit-of-service attitude towards customers and co-workers. Maintains friendly, efficient, and responsive attitude toward client and residents.
