  • High School diploma
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Exemplary human relation and motivational skills are needed
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to multi-task while completing high quality, accurate work in a timely manner
  • Ability to deal with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities
  • Heightened community awareness of the agency and its services
  • Cooperation with staff, and vendors
  • A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Experience in food service background
  • Understand and uphold the guidelines set forth by Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Work with the Childcare director and staff to complete the monthly paperwork required for CACFP & SFSP compliance

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare 2 meals and 1 snack daily for the Southwest’s Child Development Center; Monday – Friday
  • Willingness to comply with CACFP meal component requirements and maintain proper documentation
  • An open and creative approach to menu curation
  • Complete documentation on inventory, cycle menus, and nutritional labels
  • Comply with Metro Health Departments food safety regulations and documentations such as temperature logs and food safe storage
  • Ordering and purchasing of food and supplies from approved vendors in consultation with the Operations Manager
  • Maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and operation of all equipment, furnishing, dishes, and utensils in the kitchen, storage areas. Ensure all food service utensils, equipment and chemicals that could be of harm to others are secured in locked areas, i.e. knifes, aerosol/liquid cleaning chemicals, liquid fire
  • Be willing to acquire and maintain Certificate of Health Food Service, First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Prompt and consistent service of meals and snacks on a daily basis
  • If transportation is available there is an opportunity to do local food purchasing with paid mileage
