Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Food Service Sales Leader reports to the Food Service Sales Department Manager and plays a crucial role in supporting the Sales department to achieve its targets. This position requires a team player who can lead and mentor the sales team while also meeting personal sales goals. The role involves travelling locally to meet with customers, including retail stores, restaurants, and distributors related to food service sales.
REQUIREMENTS / MUST-HAVES:
- Minimum of 3 years of sales experience in food service or a related industry.
- Proven experience in planning and implementing effective sales strategies.
- Strong background in customer relationship management.
- Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide training and leadership to a sales team.
- Proficiency in analyzing sales data and creating actionable plans.
- Ability to travel locally to meet with customers, and to different cities within BC / AB as required.
- Reliable vehicle with a valid driver’s license.
- Proficiency with PC and software applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Persuasive communication skills combined with strong presentation abilities.
- Good multi-tasking, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Proficiency in verbal and written English is a must.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Mentorship:
- Supervise, train, and mentor sales representatives, ensuring they are equipped to meet their sales targets.
- Motivate and guide team members to meet their assigned goals.
- Provide ongoing on-the-job training and professional development opportunities.
- Assist the Sales Department Manager in developing and implementing sales training programs to enhance team performance.
Sales Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to drive growth and profitability.
- Assign sales territories to team members and monitor their performance.
- Analyze sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Assist the Sales Manager in overseeing and coordinating sales team activities.
Operational Management:
- Oversee daily sales activities, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Set up and manage sales plans, adjusting strategies as needed to meet market demands.
- Communicate with the buying team to develop accurate sales forecasts.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to roll out effective marketing plans.
- Report market conditions and competitors to assist the Sales Manager in planning sales strategies.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build strong relationships with new and existing customers.
- Manage existing customer accounts and establish new accounts.
- Monitor customers’ account balances and collect payments to ensure no overdue accounts.
- Negotiate contracts and close sales deals, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Address and resolve any customer issues or concerns promptly.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Review and analyze daily and monthly sales reports to make informed decisions.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare regular performance reports for senior management.
