Responsibilities:

Operational Management: Responsible for all aspects of site operation, including executing the store level plan, meeting operational efficiencies and targets, consistently implementing procedures/best practises, policies, and applying the CBA, ordering, receiving, processing claims, delivery, managing inventory; minimizing costs and maximizing profitability. Ensures standards are met and exceeded – i.e., image, merchandising, asset protection, preventative maintenance, and general upkeep of equipment etc. Ensures programs are implemented as outlined. Supports procurement process. Team members are scheduled to address the needs of the business, and exceptions are managed daily, along with time off requests handled in a timely fashion. Team members are trained to provide a brand aligned customer experience. Implements corrective actions to address needs and deficiencies. Provides a safe, effective operation. Collaborates with Team Leader and provides feedback and input regarding continued improvement of operations. The Store Manager is responsible in providing feedback to the Food & Pharmacy Division Manager regarding recommendations for continued improvement of operations.
Talent Management & Team Leadership: Leads their teams within the parameters of the CBA and Saskatoon Co-op polices and guidelines. Practices full cycle talent management - talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management including communicating clear performance expectations, coaching, and mentoring, development planning, and driving employee engagement and implementing strategies to promote a positive employee work experience. Supports and coaches department leaders to apply talent management practices with their respective team members. Ensures proper training is provided using the appropriate resources. Communicates regularly with all team members to build relationships and provide information to ensure team members understand how their role contributes to Saskatoon Co-op’s success and any other relevant information to them. Provides a safe work environment for all team members.
Financial Management: Leads and develops store level budget in collaboration with the Food & Pharmacy Division Manager, Senior Manager, Foods, and Senior Pharmacy Manager. Works with Team Leader (Food & Pharmacy Division Manager or Senior Manager, Food) to review financial reporting and provides variance explanations within the timelines provided, and implements adjustments to obtain profitability. Oversees all site level audits, including regular inventory counts, schedules and recording of markdowns. Tracks and monitors sales and targets. Responsible for back-office management (cash) and maintenance of POS and pin pads. Updates costs to ensure accurate data/pricing to minimize costs and maximize profits. Performs daily site level recaps; regularly collaborates with Admin team to handle overages or shortages.
Marketing: In support of the division’s marketing plan, provides input into the division’s marketing plan, executes store level and local marketing plan as directed by Team Leaders (Food & Pharmacy Division Manager/Specialist), ensuring point of sale and in-store signage and promotions are aligned with programs and organizational/divisional marketing campaigns, and effectively displayed. Inform all team members of the campaign and required behaviors to align with the desired outcomes. Communicates brand differentiators and ensures they are understood, applied, and observed through in-store interactions. Provide input into Team Book orders, and execute throughout the year.
Analytics: Track and compile relevant site level data to measure targets and analyze results, such as sales and employee sales hours, CASM execution, shrink, inventory, margin, productivity, specific product performance. Utilize BI Tools and other tracking methods. Work with Team Leader to gather insights, and implement corrective actions.
Safety (and Environmental) Stewardship: Ensures compliance with Saskatoon Co-op’s Safety Policies and government regulations (OHS committee meetings, fire drills, operator’s certification). Reports incidents, workplace accidents and near misses as required. Aids in investigations in asset protection or other related matters. Implements corrective action to prevent future safety events.
