ABOUT US

Doehler is a global producer, marketer and provider of technology-driven natural ingredients, ingredient systems and integrated solutions for the food and beverage industry. We provide our customers with a wide product range including natural flavours, natural colours, fruit purees and pieces as well as healthy and functional ingredients for foods and beverages.
As a Food Technologist, you will bring strong leadership and technical skills and are dedicated to achieving success and adding value. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for driving quality efficiencies and continual improvement throughout the site and team. This role is a full-time position.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Experience working in food production and leading the Quality function preferably in food industry
  • Demonstrated experience to drive process improvement and cultural change
  • Knowledge of QMS, FSSC, Kosher, Halal, PDCA systems
  • Experience in implementing a quality management system
  • Ability to challenge the status quo ensuring the highest quality standards
  • Attention to detail, auditing skills, analytical & organisational skills
  • Strong collaborator, ability to influence others and ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Drives accountability, able to manage and navigate your way through complex and fluid environments
  • Tertiary qualification in Food technology or a related field is essential
  • A successful track record of quality assurance in a food manufacturing environment; and
  • Experience with HACCP, ISO, BRC, FSSC and other external audit bodies
  • Require at least 3 years of relevant full time work experience
    Salary Range is 85k to 90k.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and improvement of food product safety and quality control systems** (including Kosher, Halal, FSSC 22000) to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and customer requirements.
  • Monitor product quality and safety at various stages of production, ensuring that specifications, food safety standards, and industry best practices are consistently met.
  • Investigate and resolve food safety-related complaints, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain food quality assurance procedures to address non-conformances and optimize food production processes, working closely with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Lead and coordinate training programs for employees, focusing on food safety practices, hygiene standards, and quality assurance to ensure continuous improvement and adherence to food safety protocols.
  • Conduct and oversee internal and external food safety audits, including compliance inspections for hygiene, sanitation, allergen control, and regulatory standards in line with industry certifications (FSSC 22000, HACCP, GMP).
  • Lead research and development efforts to enhance food quality and safety, guiding the formulation of new products and optimization of existing ones while maintaining a focus on food safety and compliance with consumer and regulatory needs.
  • Manage raw material sourcing and supplier compliance, ensuring that ingredients meet quality and safety standards (VACCP) and align with the organization’s product specifications.
  • Handle daily quality assurance tasks, including sample analysis, pest control monitoring, raw material inspections, and reviewing product labels for regulatory compliance and accuracy.
  • Oversee Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and cleaning programs to ensure food safety and high standards of hygiene across all production processes.
  • Ensure production documentation is accurately completed addressing any non-conformances in process documentation, ingredient lists, and food safety logs.
  • Lead annual validation and verification activities related to critical control points (CCP), allergen management, process validations, and product shelf-life assessments.
  • Provide technical support to production and quality teams, guiding them in the application of food science principles to improve product consistency and safety.
  • Step in to manage QA operations in the absence of other team members, ensuring that all daily food safety and quality tasks are completed on schedule.
