The Material Handler/Forklift Operator will operate a Forklift and will be responsible for making sure all in-bound shipments received conform to agreed specifications, by accurately identifying and recording shipments according to the company’s procedure and that all in-bound and out-bound pallets/inventory are tagged correctly. In addition, the role will occasionally be responsible for sorting, manually dismantling and disassembling electronics and related equipment in an efficient manner while respecting the standards of security and safety.

Qualifications

  • Forklift license and experience necessary
  • Computer knowledge and skills is required
  • Previous experience in any industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point).
  • Depth Perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distance and spatial relationships).
  • High level of concentration.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • experience working with small hand tools
  • Tasks require lifting of up to 20 lbs. regularly or 50 lbs. occasionally as well as reaching for /pushing and pulling various weights.
  • Positive attituded and desire to learn
  • High school diploma is preferred.
  • Commitment to personal safety and safety of co worker
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethi

Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport products in bins, bales, cartons or on skids from and to different workstations in the production area using forklift in timely manner while ensuring production schedule is maintained.
  • Keep track of production schedule to determine material requirements, movements and deliveries within departments.
  • Monitor all loads for hazardous waste and report any issues or concerns to lead hand or supervisor.
  • Perform and keep logs of inspection of forklift before use on each shift.
  • Identify and report non-conformance or other irregularities from the maintenance logs to Lead Hand or Supervisor.
  • Printing and tagging appropriate outbound loads with proper stickers. Check materials against work orders to ensure they are tagged correctly.
  • Assist in quality control and adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies. Keep updated records of inventory and activity logs.
  • Inspects required personal protective equipment and brings health and safety issues to the attention of the immediate supervisor.

  • High Exposure to designated substances; Lead.
  • High volume of heavy equipment traffic.
  • High Exposure to loud noise; vibrations; hot and cold temperatures; dusty conditions, hazardous chemicals.
  • Repetitive tasks within a fast-paced warehousing, processing and manufacturing environment.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and repetitive arm movement.
  • Wearing of required PPE including coveralls, respirator, safety glasses, gloves and shoes.
