FOUNDATION STAGE SEND TEACHER – ALTERNATIVE PATHWAYS
Kings’ School Al Barsha is offering a unique opportunity to join our outstanding team as a Foundation Stage SEND Teacher in our Alternative Pathways program. We are seeking an outstanding classroom practitioner who is dedicated to creating a supportive and stimulating learning environment for pupils with additional needs. The role involves leading a bespoke classroom setting within a mainstream school, setting high expectations for, and fostering their individual growth.
The successful candidate will provide a nurturing and safe space where students can thrive at their own pace using a variety of communication and regulation strategies. The curriculum includes the National Curriculum, adapted to meet the individual learning needs of each student. Teaching will follow a functional, hands-on approach to encourage independence and develop life skills.
You will lead a team of two learning support assistants to ensure a high-quality education tailored to the needs of your students.
Following the Foundation Stage Framework, you will inspire your pupils, daily, to become life-long learners. You will receive unparalleled support to ensure you are able to deliver an exceptional education; and allow you to fully commit to doing the ‘Best by Every Child.’
REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor Degree in Education or relevant to the teaching subject plus SEND Qualification or Bachelor Degree in SEND Education or Inclusion.
- British-trained teacher, including QTS, with experience in the British curriculum.
- Minimum 2 years of experience teaching students with special needs.
- Good knowledge of the EYFS Curriculum.
- Experience working with early learners and a strong understanding of child development.
- Expertise in designing and delivering targeted interventions, particularly for children with additional needs.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with families and colleagues.
- Experience working in SEND Schools or bespoke provisions.
- Proven experience delivering FS curriculum.
- Familiarity with Makaton, PECS and other alternative communication methods.
- Expertise in adapting curriculums to suit individual needs.
- Creativity in delivering engaging learning activities.
- Competence in developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Strong personal philosophy of education and a commitment to inclusive practices.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Deep understanding of supporting and removing barriers to learning for students with Social, Emotional, and Communication challenges.
- Ability to identify and address root causes of challenging behaviors, implementing effective behaviour management strategies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of teaching the National Curriculum through a practical and functional approach.
