Description:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Fraud Team, providing a shared service to North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire Councils. We are a small team involved in the investigation and prevention of fraud, and error, ensuring that vital council funds are protected for the good of the community.
The team conduct fraud investigations into areas such as council tax, direct payments, and abuse of blue badge passes. Though councils retain the authority to prosecute cases in the local Magistrates Court the main drive is to prevent fraud and ensure any loss incurred is kept to a minimum and action taken to recover money obtained dishonestly. We are entering exciting times where the use of technology, including analytical tools, is prioritised to ensure we work as smartly as possible and identify acts of potential fraud at the earliest opportunity.
We are looking for someone with relevant experience in investigation, financial investigation, or other relevant field. Training will be a key part of your development with potential options to be supported for Level 4 Apprenticeship where appropriate.
The successful candidate will complete responsibilities including conducting investigations, work with relevant partners to maximise opportunities in counter-fraud, prepare professional reports including evidential and disclosure material for court, and use data matching opportunities from sources such as the National Fraud Initiative to identify investigative opportunities.
If you think you have the unique skills and experience for this role, and would like to discuss further, please contact Victoria.Pritchard@nelincs.gov.uk - Senior Fraud Investigator, or John.Shepherd@nelincs.gov.uk - Lead Officer, Fraud.
We are collectively organised around the people and place of North Lincolnshire. Together we ensure that our communities are safe, well, prosperous and connected. We are ambitious for North Lincolnshire, we want our area to be the #BestPlace for our residents by being the #BestCouncil we can be. We achieve this through living our values – equality of opportunity, excellence, integrity and self-responsibility – in all that we do
