Description:
Hello! Are you the Freelance IT Engineer we are looking for?
At Seafar, you are solely responsible for all our internal and customer-facing IT. From establishing and executing internal IT policies, to implementing the technology behind us remotely and autonomously controlling ships/vessels - you will immediately add value and help an innovative scale-up company cement its place as market leader.

Main responsibilities
- Accountable for IT surrounding the Remote Operating Centre (Stations remotely controlling ships and vessels) and Vessel Control System (Ships/vessels (other vehicles in progress) in need of integrating with to enable remote and autonomous control):
- Procuring, installing, configuring and maintaining hardware (firewall, switches, joystick PLC, UPS, screens, cabling, 4G/5G/satellite, cameras…)
- Installing/configuring software for new and existing vessels
- Providing Remote Operating Centre application/services testing
- Providing 2nd level IT support for the in-house operational team (captains/operators/traffic controller/…)
- Providing 2nd level IT support for the systems onboard of our vessels
- Cloud deployment/configuration support in Azure (IaaS & PaaS) for new or existing vessels
- Create/maintain documentation for:
- Station software usage by operators or traffic controllers
- Vessel, Station & Cloud software deployment/configuration
- IT environment
- Responsible for internal IT infrastructure and policies:
- Maintain and secure our server infrastructure.
- General IT systems monitoring (Zabbix, PRTG, Azure monitoring)
- General IT maintenance, support, and documentation
- IT deployment/maintenance optimisation management
Helps CTO shape the future of the IT team
Does this sounds like you?
Bachelor, Master or PhD Degree in IT or a Computer Science-related subject
- Experience/knowledge of Windows (Server) administration with Intune
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE OF MONITORING TOOLS (E.G. SPECIFICALLY ZABBIX, AZURE MONITORING)
- Experience/knowledge of Linux operating system
- Experience with Cloud infrastructure, mainly Microsoft Azure
- Cisco Certificatied Network Associate
- 3+ years of experience in networking
- 5+ years of experience in system administration and support or ICT infrastructure implementations
- Affinity with software development and DevOps in a .NET & Azure environment
- You like taking charge and have good communication and social skills
- English should be perfect written and spoken, Dutch and French are an asset
- Experience in setting-up or leading an IT team is a plus
