Description:
ACP Freight Services started out as a specialist in providing high quality road freight transport services between the UK and Europe, and in response to the ever-changing needs of our customers, we have since adapted to provide additional crucial services. These additional services include our new sea and air freight department, and our in-house customs team.
Responsibilities:
JOB PURPOSE
Effect and manage the relay of information between customers and subcontractors and to help ensure the accurate and profitable operation of the Freight Forwarding Department.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain / develop good working relationships with all stakeholders
- Issue detailed instructions to carriers, ensuring they have all the necessary documentation and information to follow the correct customs process for export / import formalities, and have received. Updating customs information on the transport software (CarLo)
- Daily contact with carriers to obtain status updates for all loads, ensuring collections and / or deliveries are on schedule and transit times can be achieved. Obtaining details of trailer registration and ETA for collections and/or deliveries, compile daily report and update CarLo accordingly
- Monitor drivers progress as necessary to ensure everyone is aware of any problems before they occur
- Liaise with customers/consignors/consignees and colleagues as required in order to book collections and deliveries as required and ensure they are advised of any delays or changes in schedules
- Help maintain the team mailboxes
- Create / Update Orders and Business Partners on CarLo as required
- Take appropriate action, referring to a Senior Freight Forwarder as necessary, to rectify any problems and keep customers informed of any resulting delays
- Upload all instructions, documents and emails to the relevant order
- In the afternoon; check that carriers have received instructions for the next day and that transports are on schedule
- In the event of any incident possibly leading to an insurance claim, you must check the appropriate action with Senior Freight Forwarder. Add the necessary details for the relevant file on CarLo in the Complaints Management menu and forward details to the claims’ email
- Provide cover for colleagues and assist as required
- Take reasonable care for the health and safety of self and others who may be affected by acts or omissions related to your work. Cooperate fully with the management of the Company with regard to any duty or requirement imposed on them by the relevant Health and Safety legislation to allow that duty or requirement to be carried out or complied with
- Any other reasonable duties and responsibilities considered appropriate by the management of the Company
ROLE REQUIREMENTS - COMPETENCIES:
- Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office packages, Outlook etc.
- Good written and spoken English
ROLE REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS:
- GCSE or equivalent Math and English (Grade C (4) or above)

- Portsmouth office (hybrid available after probationary period)
