Description:

Job Summary
**Location: On-site, National Gallery of Canada, 380, Sussex Drive, Ottawa.
Coordination of publishing projects and editing and revision of complex art historical manuscripts, exhibition-related documents, and a wide range of educational, promotional, corporate, and other texts aimed at a variety of audiences.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a degree in French literature or related discipline from a university or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in editing, copy-editing, proof-reading art books or art magazines, historical texts, or scholarly and literary texts

  • Extensive experience in research in terminologies, fact checking and accuracy of texts.
  • Reviews and oversees projects from the manuscript to the blues stage.
  • Capacity to work and coordinate work with a team of French and English editors.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of modern publishing and the book trade: editing, design, typesetting, printing, writing, rights and permissions, marketing, and distribution is an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of the French language and grammar.
  • Good knowledge of the English language and comparative editing.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Acrobat, and electronic mail.
  • Team player, independent and Solution orientated and able to work with multiple priorities.
