Description:
One Care DC, Inc is a behavioral health agency located in Washington DC has an exciting opportunity for a full time Front Desk Receptionist to join our team. Our Mission is to provide quality mental health treatment and services to eligible District of Columbia residents in an environment that encourages them to become the best and healthiest versions of themselves.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED, Associate’s Degree in business administration or related field preferred
- Must Have three years’ medical office experience
- Experience working in a mental health clinic or community organization is a plus
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills, and good telephone etiquette.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to deal effectively and professionally with a variety of different individuals.
- Ability to remain professional and calm in a high-volume and fast-paced customer service environment.
- Knowledge of computer systems (MS Office products) and ability to navigate web based applications.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.

Responsibilities:
- Welcomes patients and visitors in person or on the telephone and takes detailed messages as needed.
- Check identification and utilize the Electronic Health Record system to check in consumers for appointments and to verify and update their personal and insurance information.
- Schedule new and follow-up appointments, and keeping consumers on schedule
- Makes reminder calls for next day appointments.
- Reschedule canceled or missed appointments within 48 hours of missed appointment.
- Updates consumer information in the EMR as needed.
- Complete daily services report
- Responding to medical records requests
- Serves as liaison between providers and patients.
- Minimizes patients’ stress by anticipating their anxieties, answering questions, and maintaining a calm and orderly environment in the reception area.
- Helps consumers in distress by responding to emergencies and solving problems.
- Collects, sorts, distributes, or prepares mail, messages, or courier deliveries.
- Prepares correspondence, memos and other documents.
- Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
