We’re a technology company focused on creating a smart, sustainable energy system. It’s a really exciting time in energy. Help us make a real impact on shaping a better, more sustainable future.

KRAKENFLEX

The energy industry is undergoing the largest transformation since industrialisation at an unprecedented rate of change and we are positioning ourselves to be at the heart of that change.
Our aim is to be the leading global provider of solutions that enable customers to release £30bn of value per annum from distributed energy resources (DERs). We are building a Software as a Service (SaaS) subscription business with a global addressable market of £2.4 billion per annum, by digitally connecting hundreds of thousands of DERs with energy markets.
We have already attained a market leading position and KrakenFlex is a recognised thought leader and innovator in the industry. Our efforts have not gone unnoticed and we are pleased to announce that we now have the full support and backing of Octopus Energy, an award-winning UK energy supplier who share our passion and values.
We’re looking for a skilled front-end engineer to join our dynamic team. You’ll work closely with engineers, designers, and product teams to build responsive, accessible, and scalable web applications. In this role, you will champion best coding practices, contribute to the evolution of our front-end architecture, and help shape the future of our user interfaces. If you’re passionate about building high-quality applications, love solving complex challenges, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you

IF THIS SOUNDS LIKE YOU THEN WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU.

Are you ready for a career with us? We want to ensure you have all the tools and environment you need to unleash your potential. Need any specific accommodations? Whether you require specific accommodations or have a unique preference, let us know, and we’ll do what we can to customise your interview process for comfort and maximum magic!
Studies have shown that some groups of people, like women, are less likely to apply to a role unless they meet 100% of the job requirements. Whoever you are, if you like one of our jobs, we encourage you to apply as you might just be the candidate we hire. Across Octopus, we’re looking for genuinely decent people who are honest and empathetic. Our people are our strongest asset and the unique skills and perspectives people bring to the team are the driving force of our success. As an equal opportunity employer, we do not discriminate on the basis of any protected attribute. Our commitment is to provide equal opportunities, an inclusive work environment, and fairness for everyone

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with fellow engineers to drive the strategic direction and implementation of our front-end architecture.
  • Champion best practices in coding standards, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Deliver high-quality, customer-facing features in a fast-paced environment, balancing speed with precision.
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices, both in your work and across the team, through peer reviews and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and bring innovative solutions to the table to continuously improve our front-end stack.
  • Work closely with UX/UI designers to translate creative visions from tools like Figma and Sketch into responsive, accessible code.
  • Collaborate with back-end developers to ensure seamless integration and performance across the full stack.
  • Participate in regular stand-ups, code reviews, and retrospectives, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Help maintain and evolve our design system and component libraries to ensure consistency across products.
