Description:
Reporting to the Bakery/Deli Manager, responsibilities for this position include the following:
- To provide information, assistance and courteous service to customers. Promote the sale of merchandise at all times.
- To maintain and display all types of meat and bakery products according to Departmental procedures, ensuring proper rotation; fresh and full at all times.
- To place orders through suppliers and supplier reps for replenishment of inventory as required. To keep proper mark-down reports.
- To advise Bakery Department Manager of special or out-of-stock merchandise requested by customers.
- To follow Policy and Procedures of morning set up and evening closing.
- To adjust minor complaints in keeping with general sales policy and to refer more serious complaints to the Department Manager.
- To prepare, wrap, price, stock and price check merchandise as assigned.
- To unpack and check merchandise as assigned. Check code dates.
- To observe safety measures and report hazardous conditions immediately to the Department manager.
- Responsible for recording and extending inventory at period end.
- To perform general housekeeping and sanitation duties as per Association standards.
- To operate equipment necessary to prepare merchandise for sale.
- To provide proper maintenance of equipment, monitor case temperatures, clean equipment regularly and notify supervisor in reference to repairs.
- To follow all Policies and Procedures of the Association.
- Responsible for scheduling Deli staff.
- To assist in training of Bakery/Deli Clerks including responsibility directly for deli training.
- To assist in preparation and presentation of Bakery/Deli clerk performance appraisals.
- Responsible for regular price checks, price confirmations and price changes.
- To co-ordinate sampling program for Bakery and Deli foods.
- To maintain receiving, credit, purchases records.
- To perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicants must possess a minimum of two years related experience with Bakery, Meats and Cheese product lines in order to effectively operate in all areas of the department.
- Applicants must possess sufficient knowledge of Bakery, Meats and Cheese product lines in order to effectively operate as a supervisor in all areas of the department.
- Must have capability to operate the required equipment for the preparation, merchandising and sale of Bakery and Deli products.
- Must be strongly service oriented and motivated, and capable of assisting customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Applicant must be able to work morning, afternoon and evenings and weekends.
- Must have minimum 1 year supervisory experience
- a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
