PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a Grade XII diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Completion of some post-secondary courses, preferably in business or management.
  • A minimum of one year experience in retail or marketing, ideally gained in the gaming or related industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advanced skills in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Have and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License.
  • Continuous on the job learning is required to stay current with changes in the industry.
  • Knowledge of computerized POS/inventory systems is an asset and can be acquired on the job.

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

The Retail Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of the Casinos of Winnipeg retail operations and programs. The incumbent is responsible for the acquisition of retail merchandise on behalf of the Casinos of Winnipeg retail outlets, according to established policies and procedures.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain adequate inventory levels for the Gift Store, and order stock as needed.
  • Monitor inventories and product sales, source out new products, and coordinate sales promotions.
  • Create items, products, and barcodes for each new product. Price and code all items.
  • Complete required inventory counts and reports daily.
  • Organize warehouse, label products, bins and shelves, and update inventory tracking log.
  • Receive ordered products, verify contents and amounts to invoices and packing slips, and enter into inventory management system.
  • Transfer stock between sites, complete necessary paperwork.
  • Remove damaged items from inventory and process claims with vendors.
  • Process all damaged merchandise paperwork and log all items for tracking purposes.
  • Maintain suppliers list. Meet with vendors and sales representatives as required.
  • Process orders as scheduled/required with internal/external vendors.
  • Process special order items for the Casino Host program, issue DR to the cashier if warranted.
  • Process month and year end inventory including creating physical count sheets, counting stock, entering inventory counts into the inventory system, investigating discrepancies, and completing reports for submission to Finance.
  • Conduct monthly inventory audits in cooperation with Finance department.
  • Import sales daily and review reports for discrepancies.
  • Verify and update user access for both Optimum Control and Squirrel.
  • Ensure communication between Optimum Control and Squirrel is correct.
  • Plan, organize, and direct the procurement of retail merchandise.
  • Oversee the acquisition of all retail merchandise and display materials.
  • Develop merchandising techniques and coordinate sales promotions.
  • Develop strategies to promote retail sales to maximize awareness and improve profitability.
  • Assist with the implementation of Club Card point redemption strategies related to the retail operation.
  • Responsible for managing all special order item requests for Casinos of Winnipeg guests.
  • Report on sales/program performance, trends, and opportunities as set forth by the Manager, Customer Services.
  • Analyze financial performance of retail operations and provide recommendations to improve the overall bottom line.
  • Other related duties as assigned
