Description:

Annual Salary $103,500.00 - 143,300.00

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead up to fifty-five employees, including Production Operators and Assistant Operators, a Process Technician, a Tooling Profile Specialist, an Edge Coating Specialist, Training Specialists and 4 Shift Leads supporting production on three flooring (FUB) lines with four crews operating on a rotating 12-hr shift schedule.
  • Safety First: Ensure that safe work policies, procedures and methods are being followed at all times.
  • Quality: Ensure that quality policies, procedures, inspection, and containment procedures are only delivering product that meets customer standards and expectations.
  • Productivity: Develop and maintain a well-trained, skilled, flexible workforce to deliver the capacity needed to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production demand. Coordinate and collaborate closely with upstream internal suppliers to maintain flow of material to support production.
  • Support Pay Progression, development training, coaching, and mentoring to improve the skills and effectiveness of employees and to ensure job qualifications are met.
  • Manage the efficient consumption of raw materials such as DEK, coatings, pad, glue, wax, tooling and other production materials and operational supplies.
  • Achieve labor and operational cost targets for FUB department.
  • Support management and progress of approximately $2M annual maintenance budget
  • Manage approximately $500k annual operational budget

    Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 5 yrs experience managing in a fast-paced, high volume production department.

  • A proven track record of leadership accomplishments safely running production operations smoothly and efficiently to produce high-quality products.
  • Familiarity with the wood products industry, its properties, specifications, and related automated woodworking equipment a plus.

Education and specialized skills profile:

  • An Engineering, Operations, or Manufacturing Management education or related demonstrated experience desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, organize, analyze and interpret data to affect problem solving and operational improvement.
  • Experience with SPC/DOE (statistical process control and design of experiments) is a plus
  • Experience with the use of formal problem solving tools (5 Whys, cause-and-effect, fishbone diagram) a plus.
  • Familiarity and experience with Lean process and principals to include flow, value stream, 5S, and continuous improvement also a plus.
  • Capacity and ability to learn and understand complex processes and how different variables (internal and external) impacts the quality output of the process and product.
  • High degree of mechanical/electrical aptitude to effectively contribute to the role machinery troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of formal project management planning and execution methodologies.

  • The FUB Department embraces the diversity of languages. Most, if not all, communication to successfully complete the appropriate scope of work is preferred to be conducted verbally and in written form in English.

Mobility and Physical Requirement profile:

  • Work location is Barnwell, SC and operates in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to travel internationally with 2-3 weeks’ notice.
  • Travel up to 1 week per year.
  • Be expected to stand for a full shift. Employee will be required to perform climbing stairs, walking, squatting, kneeling.
  • There is occasional lifting that may require handling of components which can weigh up to 50 lbs.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and walk and talk or hear; use hands and fingers, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee may work near moving mechanical parts in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, ambient air, temperature extremes, combustible dust fumes or airborne particles, traffic, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
  • The schedule is normally day shift Monday through Friday. Off-schedule call-ins may be deemed necessary or required, as determined by the circumstances involved.

  • Internal: Department Managers (Operations and Maintenance), Process Engineering, Technicians, Quality, Maintenance, Intralogistics, Warehouse, MDF and Flooring Plant Managers. Scheduling, Sales; Purchasing, Finance and HR.
  • External: Vendors, Suppliers, Service Contractors, and other Krono Swiss Plants.
