This is a key role within the services team, working with all members of the team and wider squads to ensure we are maximising performance through pricing of our Fulfilment services across all channels, and shaping future activities by reviewing success and performance against defined objectives.
Supporting the Senior Pricing and Promotions Manager, this role is responsible for setting and enacting the pricing strategy across Fulfilment services, such as Delivery, Installation and Recycling products across all channels. These products will be defined within the Services Strategy and can flex or change over time.
The role holder will be required to execute pricing for these Fulfilment Services, while ensuring that there is a thorough understanding of elasticity and incrementality for any changes planned, and that margin is optimised, with the proposed changes competitive versus relevant market competition (a clear set of competitors for benchmarking will be defined by the Senior Pricing and Promotions Manager and agreed by the Services Director) delivering value to our customers.
To do this they will be working closely with many business functions to gather data, including with the finance, operations, business intelligence and customer insight teams, to become a true specialist in this field. The role will require involvement in trialling changes to our offer, with critical thinking and the ability to understand, shape and challenge data.
The role holder will need to demonstrate strong commercial judgement and decision making, with an ability to effectively prioritise activity and ensure that decisions are made and communicated in a timely manner. The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across a wide range of stakeholders is vital to deliver the right outcomes. Staying consumer focused, understand our existing and planned capabilities following changes and developments in the market is critical, along with the ability to effectively present and communicate plans to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

As part of this role, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Produce, manage and maintain an effective pricing strategy for all defined fulfilment services, to achieve key performance targets and KPIs as set out in the relevant strategies.
  • Utilise all available date to make data driven decisions to influence ongoing pricing initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Commercial Finance, Business Intelligence and Analytics, and Category Squads to review the performance of our fulfilment services, identifying changing trends in costs, pricing and customer engagement, highlighting opportunities to improve overall profitability and performance.
  • Monitor market activity, using this information to ensure that our fulfilment services are priced to support business wide objectives and that we are competitive, or leading the market.
  • Support the Senior Pricing and Promotions Manager to work with Finance, Senior Channel Performance Manager and Senior Commercial Planning Manager to ensure that our pricing strategy is aligned to the business’ marketing plans and will deliver clear profitability improvements and support achieving targets and KPI’s.
  • Support Senior Pricing and Promotions Manager with inputs relevant to this area within the E2E process of reviewing performance across Services, including period reviews, regular YTD performance reviews and supporting the QGTMP post-mortem process.
  • Support Senior Pricing and Promotions Manager, together with other Commercial teams and Finance teams in the creation of annual budgets and short-term forecasts at P&L level, coordinate reporting against these metrics on a weekly and periodic basis

You will need:

  • Experience within a commercial or performance driving environment, preferably driving performance within a commercial/category management trading role.
  • Experience of working with and influencing multiple stakeholders across different business functions.
  • Involvement in, and ownership of, the production of business cases or business models.
  • Good knowledge of adjacent markets and competitors (Retail, Services and Technology).
  • Experience working within a Financial Services organisation, FMCG or retailer, and experience of commercial and operating models
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts and messages, presenting recommendations to senior management, with the ability to convince others of recommended course of action.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with analytical skills that will help make effective changes to pricing and the pricing strategy.
  • Well organised with good planning skills to ensure timely delivery of tasks and initiatives.
  • System skills required: advanced Excel and PowerPoint ability
