Description:
We are in search of a Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our team in Newport News, Virginia. In this role, you will play a vital role in ensuring the financial health and compliance of our organization by overseeing daily accounting operations and providing financial reports to management and stakeholders. This role is an intriguing opportunity for those with a strong background in accounting, particularly in the real estate industry.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting staff, managing performance, providing training, and supporting career development.
- Develop and manage the annual budget, providing forecasts and financial projections to support strategic planning.
- Ensure adherence to accounting principles, standards, and regulations, including handling audits and coordinating with external auditors.
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and identify trends or issues.
- Evaluate financial performance and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Oversee accounting for real estate transactions, including property acquisitions and sales.
- Manage general ledger entries and ensure proper accounting for real estate transactions.
- Implement and maintain accounting systems and software, and develop and improve processes for efficiency and accuracy.
- Possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in bookkeeping or a related field
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
- Demonstrated ability to handle all accounting functions
- Proven experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Familiar with the preparation and management of an annual budget
- Capable of performing cash flow analysis
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is preferred.
