For this position you would be working with our client from the European institutions.
DG JRC’s Unit F.3, including EURL ECVAM, supports EU policies on chemicals such as industrial products, cosmetics, food, and endocrine disruptors.
IPCHEM, the EU’s platform for chemical occurrence data, helps close knowledge gaps on chemical exposure’s impact on health and the environment. It supports EU policies by collecting and sharing chemical data across four areas: Environmental Monitoring, Human Biomonitoring, Food and Feed, and Products and Indoor Air
Below are the details of your role and requirements.

Your role

  • Manage the IPCHEM software, handling full-stack development (HTML, JavaScript, Java/Tomcat, PostgreSQL).
  • Oversee the maintenance of IPCHEM’s data harmonization, integration, and dissemination processes (ETL, ownCloud, R, and Python scripting).
  • Assist IPCHEM data providers and users by managing standard onboarding processes and documentation.
  • Lead the harmonization and integration of new datasets into IPCHEM or updates to existing ones.
  • Collaborate with the IPCHEM system manager, business manager, data providers, and users.

Who we think you are:

  • Over 10 years in software development, with at least 5 years focused on web applications, particularly using Apache/Tomcat, HTML, and JavaScript.
  • Over 10 years in data management, including at least 5 years handling large-scale data (hundreds of millions of records), preferably with PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
  • At least 5 years in technical team coordination, including 3 years in agile IT projects, preferably using PM2/SCRUM.

Responsibilities:
