About our Team
We’re building a new team for an exciting new mission to modernise our existing application stack, powering one of LexisNexis IP’s flagship products, PatentSight+. This new team will take the existing monolithic application platform, redefine its architecture and break it down into smaller services. This is an opportunity to join a new team right at ground level and have your say how it executes it mission and defines its strategic goals.

We expect this team to be working across multiple technologies around a core including:

  • React and JavaScript

  • GraphQL

About the Role
We are hiring a number of Software Engineers of differing levels to work on modernising the application platform for a key product, PatentSight+. PatentSight+ enables core IP activities such as competitive intelligence and benchmarking, portfolio optimization and more, by bringing together highly curated and enriched datasets, cutting-edge analysis tools with streamlined workflows and powerful visualization capabilities, all within a single platform.

Responsibilities

  • Implement a Python Lambda to handle requests to an RDS database. Assist in refactoring functionality out of the application. Then help rebuild and deploy that functionality with a microservices architecture via Cloud Formation on AWS.
  • Raise an issue around the team’s process or practices, seek out improvements and work with the team on improvements.
  • Lead an agile ceremony, such as the team’s retrospective.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate experience working with modern React frameworks, and it would be beneficial to have experience with NextJS, or other server side rendering experience.
  • Demonstrate experience working with one or more of the following C#, SQL, or Python
  • Demonstrate platform experience, especially around AWS Serverless, App Sync, Cloud Formation and microservice architectures.
  • Possess extensive Software Engineering experience, especially working around large systems, refactoring and dealing with tech debt.
  • Experience with GraphQL, or similar API schemas.
  • Experience of collaborating with key stakeholders while operating in diverse development environments like Agile and Waterfall.
  • Knowledge of continuous software delivery processes.
