Description:
Assist the client in his recovery process by providing him with information, support, and insight through individual treatment planning and monitoring the clients progress towards mutually determined goals
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- 3-year Degree/Diploma in relevant field from an accredited post-secondary institution in Social Services with Addictions Concentration
- Either currently hold or is actively pursuing and within 1 year of obtaining CCAC certification under the CACCF
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Experience working with a marginalized population as an addiction counsellor
- Proven working knowledge of all modalities of recovery
- Experience in group facilitating
- Experience administering Narcan and/or Narcan training a strong asset
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:
- Proven skill in the use of motivational interviewing and other cognitive behavioral therapies
- Ability to recognize and work within professional and personal limitations and boundaries
- Proven ability to work successfully in a team environment
- Good organizational skills
- Bilingualism is an asset
- Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
