Description:
The Director of Evaluation & Improvement provides leadership to all THHS shelter sites by directing service delivery for the Case Management and Housing Support Services programs. Additionally, they are responsible for program development, assessment and evaluation across all THHS programs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in related field, MSW degree is preferred
- Certificate in First Aid/CPR, Crisis Intervention and Conflict Resolution
- Alternate combination of education and experience may be considered
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
- At least seven years of significant work related experience including case management and clinical supervision of employees, program development and implementation and program management
- Experience working with marginalized individuals and/or people experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use challenges and other barriers to housing
- Familiarity with a wide variety of resources and supports in the Greater Toronto area
- Extensive knowledge of housing and homelessness, and systemic issues related to housing, poverty, addictions and mental health
- Advanced knowledge of relevant legislation, Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations

- Demonstrated ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with a range of people in diverse situations (clients, colleagues, partner organizations, funders)
- Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain collaborations with colleagues from multiple external community organizations, including funding agencies
- Skilled at seeking common ground in navigating challenging issues and constructively managing conflict to create win-win solutions
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and evaluation skills and ability to investigate issues and initiate corrective action
- Able to proactively recognize potential risks and issues, respond with solutions and engage others in implementing change
- Superior written skills and a high level of proficiency with the Internet, Microsoft Office suite and online database tools
- Strong sense of integrity with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility
- Effective organizational and time management skills – self-motivated and disciplined self-starter
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
- Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening not older than 6 months
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
