Description:

CUMULUS | INDIANAPOLIS is in search of a hard-working Full Time Event Director. This position requires an engaged, energetic, and detail-oriented individual to utilize their strengths in event planning to supervise the planning and execution of revenue generating events. Additionally, our Event Director will manage all on-site activity and manage a team of Part-Time Promotions Assistants. Our Event Director will prep, plan and manage events to create an exquisite experience for our listeners and clients for all six Cumulus Indianapolis radio stations, including 95.5 WFMS-FM Country Music, 104.5 WJJK-FM Classic Hits, 93.9 X Indy’s Rock Station (WNDX-FM), 99.5 WZPL-FM Top 40-All the Hits, 107.9 WNTR-FM Hot AC, 1430 AM WXNT Sports Radio. The cluster of 6 stations reaches over a million listeners on a daily basis. The ideal individual is eager, strategic, responsible, helpful, aware, approachable and will learn to anticipate and respond to attendee, client, or artist needs. They are able to initiate conversations and connect with clients, fans/attendees by communicating in a genuine and articulate way for each radio station. Every week is different, and hours vary depending on the season.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute promotional events within departmental budget from inception to completion
  • This is a unique role in marketing and events, as it not only delivers against brand awareness and reputation but also must work cross-functionally to drive revenue and business results
  • The goal is growth and success through strategic planning and execution of brand-building and consumer-focused events
  • Leads the department by managing event-focused promotion initiatives across all brand (audio stations) channels
  • Collaborates across departments to meet strategic key objectives
  • Negotiate and purchase collateral and other promotional items
  • Develop strategic relationships with event venues to benefit the stations
  • Work with local charities to the mutual benefit of the community, the charity and the stations
  • Manage staff of Part-Time/On-Site Promotions Assistants
  • Provide regular coaching and performance feedback to staff
  • Lead all station and sales promotional events (ticket drops, appearances, pop-ups, guerilla marketing, concerts, festivals, games, community, live broadcasts, etc.)
  • Represent each radio station in the best light
  • Create listener and client satisfaction through superior customer service and attention to detail
  • Correspond with clients, vendors and/or venue organization at concerts and promotional events to ensure that all needs are met
  • Assist in maintenance of station vehicles and make sure they are in safe working order

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Canva, social networking platforms and basic audio/video Promotion tools
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent grammar and editorial skills and ability to interact effectively with the public, co-workers, clients and vendors
  • Ability to work independently and operate effectively in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations
  • Outgoing and upbeat personality is a must
  • Ability to multi-task and work long and varied hours
  • Realization that this isn’t a standard 9 to 5, weekend and evening hours are required as events allow
  • Valid driver’s license with exceptional driving record
  • Strong time management skills; adept at setting priorities
  • Serious attention to detail, ability to multitask, juggle demanding deadlines
  • Effective collaborator with multiple levels within an organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in the related area as an individual contributor
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience may be required
  • Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes
  • Experience with video editing, web design, sound tech, writing, photography, event planning &/or digital marketing a plus
