Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a hotel receptionist for a successful independent 28 bedroom boutique hotel business in North Yorkshire. Full-time and part-time position available. Flexibility is required.
Full time: 40 hours a week, consisting of 8 hour shifts over 5 days. Shifts are either a morning shift: 7am-3pm or a late shift: 3pm-11pm.
Part time: 4 days a week. Similar pattern as above.
The applicant ideally should have experience in a high standard and busy hotel, branded or independent with a great personality.
The ideal candidate should be smart, proactive, confident and committed. Used to working in a high volume, customer focused environment. S/he will be working closely and reporting to the general manager.
You will provide guests with an efficient and friendly welcome and departure, while ensuring the department operates in an organised manner. Ensure a professional, friendly and courteous service to all guests. To be familiar with the day’s business, including arrivals, departures and any special requests. To have a thorough understanding of all requirements when checking-in and/or checking-out a guest. To offer guest services such as wake up calls, newspaper, assistance with luggage upon check-in and communicate and upsell hotel services to guests. Handle all guest enquiries and complaints in a professional manner. Ensure all cash, float and till procedures are carried out in accordance with the hotel policies. To assist in the smooth running of the front office as required during your shift. You may also be tasked in checking bedrooms and assist guests for any requests they may have once maintenance and housekeeping team have finished their shifts.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- To ensure guests receive a warm welcome to the hotel and assist them throughout their stay
- Respond to all enquiries in an efficient and professional manner
- Taking payments and ensuring cash handling procedures are adhered to
- Maintaining high standards of the front desk
- To sell and upsell all hotel facilities to increase revenue
- To attend and participate in staff meetings and training sessions
- To maintain the highest standard of personal hygiene and appearance
- To ensure all reservations, modifications and cancellations are processed according to hotel policies
Skills required:
- Excellent proven customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft office and Google Mail
- Experience of Hotel Executive is preferred but not essential as full training will be given
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to multi task is essential
- Attention to detail
- To be honest and reliable at all times
- Flexibility and a positive, “can do” attitude is a must
- A confident, friendly and approachable personality
- A good sense of humour!
