Description:

The Supply Chain Supervisor at the Ontario Distribution Centre (ODC) will play a crucial role in supporting the Supply Chain Manager by overseeing daily transportation and warehouse operations, ensuring efficient processes, and achieving performance targets. This role combines operational and supervisory responsibilities, aiming to maintain high service levels through effective management and collaboration with the team and stakeholders. The Supply Chain Supervisor will primarily focus on optimizing day-to-day transportation activities to meet and exceed set performance objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A college diploma in a relevant field of study.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a Forklift license within 3 months of hire.
  • Valid Safe Food Handling Certification or willingness and ability to obtain.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in transportation/fleet management, or warehouse operations.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with both Office and Supply Chain Management software systems.
  • Valid “DZ” license and a current copy of a Driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required or the willingness and ability to obtain.
  • Experience in managing fleet operations including preventative maintenance programs and a demonstrated ability to understand all major truck components, audit vehicle invoices and challenge work done by garage.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Health & Safety regulations pertaining to warehouse and food handling.
    Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:

  • Good understanding of truck maintenance and components.
  • A good understanding of the laws surrounding Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.
  • Have used or trained drivers on a current ELD platform.
  • Strong leadership skills and proven ability to supervise staff and volunteers.
  • Attention to detail, problem solving, conflict resolution and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills; the ability to establish rapport with staff.
  • Exhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills.
  • Represent the organization in a professional and engaging manner.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail with the ability to follow legislation, directions, policies, procedures, and well-defined steps.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and capable of maintaining confidentiality.
  • Competence in working consultatively, diplomatically, and tactfully.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to plan and manage workload effectively.
  • Competency in making and implementing effective decisions.
  • Excellent customer service skills as well as a business mindset.
  • Proven track record in managing warehouse operations
  • Demonstrates excellent organization and written and oral communication skills, oral and written.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and manage extraordinary seasonal workload levels in a proficient way by multi-tasking, delegating, and effectively managing/directing staff.
  • A self-starter who is also a team player with an ability to work under pressure, has a high capacity to work quickly in a proficient way with extremely high accuracy rate.
  • Possesses a high degree of integrity with a demonstrated very strong work ethic.
  • Strong CVOR and MTO regulatory awareness.
  • Ability to train employees and drivers on all operational tasks.
  • Proven operations record including demonstrated ability to track, manage and control processes, procedures, and protocols.
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
