Job Purpose
As a Fullstack Web Developer, you’ll take the lead using the TALL stack and MySQL to transform our in-house systems, including PMS, CRM, CMS and website.
In this independent role, you’ll have the freedom to innovate, integrate essential APIs, and streamline our digital infrastructure. You’ll play a crucial role in shaping our business’ future, delivering projects that enhance performance and user experience. You will support Cornish Gems to be a force for good, promoting our environmental, social and community responsibility activities and actively championing our B Corp mission.

Key Tasks

• Extend and enhance existing software: Including PMS, CMS, CRM, and company website.
• Software maintenance and management: Regular updates and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
• API Integration: Incorporate third-party APIs for enhanced functionality.
• Testing and quality assurance: Implement TDD practices to maintain high-quality code.
• Refactoring and optimization: Streamline and upgrade old code to improve system efficiency and maintainability.
• Documentation: Create and update documentation to reflect changes and aid in future maintenance tasks.
• Ensures compliance with Cornish Gems’ health and safety and data protection policies.
• Other tasks commensurate with the role or as directed by management.

KEY KNOWLEDGE

• Proficiency in Tall stack: Knowledge of Tailwind CSS, Alpine.js, Laravel, and Livewire for both front-end and back-end development.
• Experience with MySQL and SQLite databases: Understanding of database management, queries and optimisation.
• Experience with Apache and Nginx web servers: Deployment (laravel forge), optimisation and management.
• Third-party API integration: Familiarity with integrating various APIs such as payment providers, Apple Pay, Mailchimp, etc.
• Testing and Development Practices: Knowledge of test-driven development (TDD), specifically using Pest or PHPUnit.
• Code Refactoring: Understanding of best practices in reviewing and restructuring existing code to improve functionality and efficiency.
• Documentation: Ability to create detailed documentation that supports the development and maintenance processes.
