Job title: Engagement and Fundraising Officer
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Base: Hybrid – Home and Office based.
Hours: Full Time 37.5 Hours
Flexible working hours (occasional evenings and weekends)

Summary of role
Reporting directly to the CFO, this role sits within the finance and contracts team. This role will raise the profile and fundraising potential of ESS Education and Support Services whilst creating a deeper understanding of its work across the local and wider Southwest community. The role has been created to offer bespoke fundraising support. The role will motivate partnership organisations, community members and groups to engage through their giving, and supporter actions. As part of this role you will evaluate and report on fundraising events to include grants and donations. You will work closely with all exciting senior team members to allow soft handover of current relationships and provide support in funding tenders and enhance team efforts.
Key Responsibilities

  1. Fundraising and Income Generation
  • Develop and execute creative fundraising campaigns, including digital, community, and corporate initiatives.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and partners.
  • Prepare compelling funding proposals, support grant applications, and sponsorship pitches.
  • Manage and grow regular giving programs and major donor pipelines.
  • Organize and oversee fundraising events, ensuring they meet financial and engagement targets.
  1. Engagement and Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, supporters, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver tailored communications to keep supporters informed and engaged.
  • Act as a key point of contact for donor inquiries and provide excellent stewardship.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
  1. Communications and Marketing
  • Support the creation of engaging content for fundraising campaigns, newsletters, and social media.
  • Maintain the organization’s donor database, ensuring accurate records and timely follow-ups.
  • Analyze and report on the performance of fundraising activities, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  1. Compliance and Administration
  • Ensure all fundraising activities comply with relevant legal and ethical standards.
  • Monitor budgets for fundraising activities and report on income and expenditure.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fundraising trends and best practices.
  • Manage and report effectively on grant activity
  • Ensure Charity remains true to it’s core values and objectives.

  • Work effectively with other members of the wider charity team.
  • Carry out other duties as may be required from time to time.
  • Act always within ESS’s rules, policies and procedures as stated in the policies and procedures manual.

Required
· Up to date DBS certification (or willingness to obtain/update)
· Up to date Prevent and Safeguarding certification (or willingness to obtain/update)

Experience/ knowledge

  • Proven experience in fundraising, donor engagement, or a related role.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles, strategies, and regulations.
  • Experience using donor management systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge) is an advantage.
  • Strong digital marketing skills, including experience with social media and email campaigns.
  • A passion for the charity’s mission and values.
