EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIRED

Education

  • Graduate of, or studies in, a recognized fundraising program and/or completion of a college diploma or bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., non-profit management, business, marketing).

Related Experience

  • Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in fundraising or a related field.
  • Interest in engaging in Trust-Based Philanthropy principles.
  • Experience with donor management software.
  • Experience with social media and digital fundraising platforms.
  • Knowledge of CRA guidelines for charitable organizations.
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team in a collaborative virtual office environment.

  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Onsite for at least two (2) days per week.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an asset.
  • Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 by receiving the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada, including a booster dose, and must provide CMHA Toronto with proof of vaccination prior to their start date.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, if required.

THE ROLE AND OPPORTUNITY

The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) – Toronto is seeking a Fundraising Coordinator to join our Philanthropy Team. Reporting to the Manager of Fundraising & Special Events, the Fundraising Coordinator plays a key role in creating positive experiences for CMHA Toronto’s supporters and staff. This position supports the team in areas such as gift cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, donor relations, and maintaining accurate records.
Building respectful and effective relationships with staff and volunteers across the organization is essential to this role. It ensures CMHA Toronto donors enjoy meaningful and fulfilling connections with our community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide administrative support for the Philanthropy program (such as financial reconciliation, reporting and analytics)
  • Maintain and update the donor database system
  • Connect/follow up with donors and answer questions by phone and email in a timely manner
  • Research and identify new funding opportunities
  • Manage donor relationships and maintain accurate donor records
  • Assist in planning and executing fundraising campaigns and events
  • Coordinate volunteer activities related to fundraising initiatives
  • Maintain and support the development of fundraising materials and communications
  • Assist in the grant writing and reporting processes
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure fundraising goals are met
  • Monitor fundraising trends and best practices in the healthcare philanthropy sector
