Responsibilities:

  • Feature Design: Develop and document functional designs for game systems and mechanics based on directives from the Lead Designer.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with programmers and artists to ensure smooth communication and coordination, tracking progress to meet project goals.
  • System Design: Create and refine core game systems, including gameplay mechanics and system functionalities.
  • Documentation: Draft comprehensive design documents, gameplay outlines, and art resource requirements, ensuring high-quality implementation in the final product.
  • Project Management: Oversee the end-to-end delivery of game systems, coordinate with developers and artists, and ensure on-time project completion.
  • Testing and Feedback: Conduct thorough testing of assigned features, address issues, and ensure optimal performance before launch.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Work: Collaborate with UX/UI designers to enhance player interfaces and ensure seamless user experiences.
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyze game feedback, identify areas for enhancement, and optimize gameplay based on player data and trends.
  • Other Duties: Support additional tasks as assigned by the team.

Requirements:

  • Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Game Designer in mobile game development.
  • Familiarity with at least two mainstream mobile games, with a deep understanding of their systems and player engagement strategies.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office tools.
  • Basic familiarity with Unity or similar game engines.
  • Understanding of scripting languages, syntax, and basic programming concepts.
  • Ability to break down complex systems into manageable components.
  • Creative and Analytical Abilities:
  • Strong problem-solving skills and logical thinking.
  • Basic to advanced drawing skills to visually communicate design ideas.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX principles and best practices for games.
  • Data-driven mindset for analyzing player behavior and improving designs.
  • Personal Attributes:
  • Passionate about gaming with a rich gaming background and unique insights into game design.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • High level of accountability, adaptability, and resilience under pressure.
  • Legal Requirement:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without employer sponsorship.
