Are you a skilled leader with a passion for people management? We are currently seeking a Garage Manager (Trailer Shop) to lead and oversee our repair and maintenance operations. As a key part of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and performance of our trailer fleet, while managing a team of garage professionals. EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of industry-related experience
  • Experience within a managerial role coaching and advising employees
  • Completion of college/vocational school or technical training
  • Class A Mechanic’s License and Red Seal Certification are assets, but not essential
  • Valid driver’s license required

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Experience and understanding of the TruckMate System and RTA is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, with the ability to prepare reports in Word and Excel.
  • Strong typing and computer skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Inspire: Manage and provide strong leadership to a team of professional garage maintenance personnel, ensuring smooth operations and a productive, safe working environment.
  • Safety First: Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety meetings to promote safe work practices, prevent injuries, and uphold occupational health & safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with HR: Work closely with Human Resources to implement policies that foster a safe, engaging, and compliant work environment for all team members.
  • Oversee Repairs: Supervise the repair and maintenance of trailers, ensuring quality workmanship and the proper use of parts for efficient, reliable service.
  • Daily Reporting: Provide regular updates to the operations team on the status of repairs and trailer in-service times.
  • Supplier Coordination: Work with suppliers to resolve technical issues and minimize downtime of trailers.
  • Schedule and Assign Work: Organize garage personnel schedules and assign workloads to maximize efficiency and meet business needs.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor the quality of repairs, rework, and warranty claims, ensuring high standards of workmanship from Technicians and Apprentices.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate vehicle records and repair data in the fleet management system to support maintenance operations.
