JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Details:
An integral part of the Buying Team; the Garment Technologist will support the Pattern Technologist, advise on technical and sustainable suitability of fabric, construction and fit, from spec creation through development to production.
Key Responsibilities:

To work across a range of school uniform products – blazers, dresses, blouses, shirts, sportswear, trousers, socks, bags, etc.

  • Tech Packs & Patterns

o Create Technical Packs for factories consisting of detailed photos, measurement charts & instructions to aid factories.
o Work closely with Pattern Cutter/Grader on creation of new base patterns and provide detailed size charts for grading.

o Fit review and approval of samples following pattern creation.

  • Sampling

o Support buyer with initial sampling for new suppliers/products.
o Assist buyer with technical queries relating to sample requests.
o Work with buyer to fit samples/size sets once received from the factory/supplier & submit comments/approval to the factory on time to maintain critical path/T&A.

o Ensure detailed fit logs are maintained with all comments documented & shared with buyer.

  • Fabric

o Review of fabric specifications & ensure testing is completed/up to date for all fabrics.

o Assist buyer with suggesting/sourcing fabrics.

  • Risk assessment/QA

o Ensure all garments meet safety/global legislations including all fabrics & trims.

o Ensure QA reports are received from factories prior to shipping.

  • Labelling and swing tags

o Work with buyer to ensure factories are using correct labelling and swing tags on all products.

  • Test reports & factory audits

o Ensure all factories are compliance audited and keep all documentation up to date.

  • Keep up to date on sustainability issues within industry and be aware of relevant legislation and company requirements.

General

  • Be an effective communicator and pass on essential information to management & other areas of the business.
  • Be able to provide information to Senior Management (CEO) quickly & concisely when required.
  • Be a key supportive member within a growing team & business.
  • Be willing to learn & adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • To complete any other reasonable tasks as required by the management team.
