The Opportunity
Our Natural Gas Forecasting & Fundamentals group is currently looking to add a Gas Market Analyst to the Gas Strategy team, based in Calgary, AB.
Reporting to the Manager, Gas Market Analysis, this position is responsible for compiling research, providing information / critical analysis and developing natural gas forecasts for the business unit. As a member of the team, you will contribute to all aspects of gas supply and market analysis with respect to TC Energy’s Natural Gas Pipelines business.
What you will do
- Monitor and maintain intelligence related to key market factors, and emerging trends in natural gas demand sectors
- Summarize and report results of forecasts, scenarios and observed market outcomes to support Commercial strategy development, Operations Planning, Mainline Planning and regulatory applications
- Research, analyze and model gas pipeline project developments in key geographic areas where TC Energy operates
- Interact regularly with internal clients to communicate and disseminate forecasts and related data, which will include development and delivery of presentations and management reports
- Conduct assessments and evaluations of how gas demand, supply and market forces impact pipeline competition and asset utilization
- Operate and improve a detailed North American gas pipeline competition model
Minimum Qualifications
- Post-Secondary Education in Economics / Business, or another related discipline
- Four years of industry related experience
- An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with gas market forecasting or integrated system modeling (e.g. the GPCM gas model)
- Proven understanding of gas industry activities and trends and natural gas supply-demand dynamics
- Comfort with manipulating large volumes of data, while maintaining accuracy in analysis
- Strong aptitude with standard office desktop tools, with emphasis on PowerBI
