About the role
Annual base salary (80 hours per fortnight) - $182,106 - $266,677
The candidate will provide professional leadership within the speciality are of Gastroenterology and provide training, education, and supervision to junior medical staff and other health care members. It also contributes to existing or develops initiatives that aim to improve quality, efficiency, or outcomes of services by appropriate quality improvement measures that include research.

  • Demonstrated ability to review, analyse and evaluate patient care for the identification of appropriate treatment and investigations.
  • Interest and experience in teaching trainees and students.
  • Interest and experience in research.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour.
  • Provides patient care by demonstrating qualities of maturity, empathy and time management as well as communicating soundly with patients and family.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development by attending relevant seminars and conferences to maintain up to date knowledge and practices and to maintain up to date college mandated requirements.

  • Demonstrates a willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary team by respecting team members, communicating openly and taking an interest in helping team members.

  • Well-developed communication skills (written, oral and interpersonal skills) with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff and hospital clients from a variety of backgrounds.
  • A personal commitment to the maintenance of high standards in the clinical care to patients and proven ability to react promptly to emergency or urgent situations impacting upon patient care.
  • Ability to practice medicine in a cross-cultural environment.
