Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

NatureMetrics is a dynamic and rapidly growing scale-up on a mission to make high-integrity nature data accessible at scale. By leveraging data, machine learning, and cutting-edge biodiversity measurement technology, we empower businesses and conservationists with precise biodiversity insights from the full complexity of nature, enabling informed decisions for a sustainable future.
We are looking for a Product Delivery Scientist to join us during our busy spring survey season and would be working principally on the Great Crested Newt eDNA team, following a standardised protocol to analyse water samples. It will be very busy work at times and a high level of attention to detail is vital.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in processing client samples for Great Crested Newt eDNA service (centrifugation, DNA extraction & qPCR following a strict protocol)
  • Liaise with GCN Lead, senior scientists and lab manager
  • Keep detailed and meticulous records
  • Assist with other laboratory work where required
  • Keep detailed laboratory notes following our standard procedures
  • Follow internal protocol for sample tracking & documentation
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the laboratory team, and maintain ongoing communication to ensure efficient planning and prioritisation of tasks.
  • Keep Lab manager informed on laboratory matters, including stock levels.
