Description:
Sewell Wallis are working with an established and rapidly growing business based in Harrogate who are currently looking for an experienced GDPR Data Protection Officer to join their well-established HR team. The role is initially a 6 month FTC with a view to go permanent.
Working as part of the HR team and reporting to the Group HR Manager, you will be responsible for the Group’s working practices, procedures and compliance in respect of data protection. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in GDPR.
What will you be doing?
- Assisting with and resolving issues relating to Information Governance and Data Protection.
- Developing and maintaining best practice policies and procedures across the organisation working closely with staff at all levels.
- Providing e on-going training and awareness to staff to promote a positive culture of compliance, which will be evidenced within the submission of the annual Data Security & Protection Toolkit.
- Overseeing data protection, records management, freedom of information, ePrivacy regulations and providing specialist advice and managing relationships with appropriate regulatory bodies.
- Advise on UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 compliance and risks.
What skills are we looking for?
- Extensive knowledge and application of relevant data protection legislation and ICO guidance.
- FOI and EIR and GDPR Practitioners Certifications (ISEB/BCS or equivalent), Data Protection Officer certification.
- Strong communication skills.
