Context:
The successful candidate will be responsible to perform the role of a general accountant i.e. to maintain and manage financial records, reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies, process invoices, expense reports, and payments in accordance with internal policies, and be mainly responsible for accurately booking various costs into our accounting software, ensuring that expenses are appropriately categorized by project codes and further by activity codes. This role requires a thorough attention to detail and understanding of cost accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in accounting software.
Missions/Main Duties:
- Cost Booking:
- Record and categorize project-related costs into the accounting software based on designated project codes.
- Ensure all transactions are accurately posted and aligned with project budgets and financial plans.
- Process invoices, expense reports, and payments.
- Project Code Management:
- Maintain and update project codes and related cost categories in the accounting system.
- Assist in setting up new projects in the system and categorizing costs.
- Reconciliation:
- Reconcile project cost entries with supporting documentation and reports.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies or errors in cost bookings.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers and other departments to ensure accurate cost recording and reporting.
- Support on external / internal audits and reviews.
- Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial data and adhere to ethical accounting practices.
Profile/Skills:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 3 to 5 years experience with project-based accounting in a similar industry is desirable
- Proven experience in accounting or cost management, preferably with a focus on project-based accounting.
- Familiarity with accounting software and financial systems (e.g. IFS and QuickBooks).
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial recording.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data management tools.
- Ability to manage deadlines effectively.
