This position will report to our EnerSys Energy Systems business, which serves the telecom, cable broadband, industrial, renewable, and data center markets. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in an accounting role
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • Public Accounting and SOX experience required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Solid understanding of US GAAP
  • Proficiency in accounting functions, controls and procedures
  • Experience in month-end close procedures
  • Experience with process improvement
  • Strong accounting reconciliation, review, analysis and reporting skills
  • Contract review and comprehension for accounting implications (rev rec, leases, etc.)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills– ability to analyze results, draw conclusions and recommend solutions
  • Ability to deal with diverse accounting matters
  • Experience and success working in a multi-team environment
  • Proven track record of being able to effectively lead and manage teams in a remote work setting
  • Professional leadership skills demonstrated through effective work habits, initiative, follow-through and inter-personal skills that allow the candidate to challenge the status quo in a professional, inclusive and motivational manner. Requires organization and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • SAP experience preferred. Hyperion (HFM) experience a plus

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

The General Accounting Manager reports directly to the Global VP Finance ES and is responsible for oversight of the General Accounting Department for Alpha’s US entities. This role ensures financial results of supported entities are in accordance with US GAAP. The manager collaborates with other functional areas and the Corporate Accounting team to develop, maintain and enforce accounting policies and procedures. The General Accounting Manager will lead and develop the team responsible for all accounting functions including the monthly close process, journal entries, account reconciliations, account analysis and reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee day-to-day General Accounting function, ensuring accuracy and compliance with corporate standards.
  • Lead the General Accounting Team in accordance with the Company and team goals. Oversee and evaluate the activities of the General Accounting staff and provide for their professional development.
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial closing procedures in HFM, ensuring timely completion and accurate reporting.
  • Ensure that the financial statements are prepared accurately, timely and on a consistent basis following U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Ensure that the underlying accounting records are supported by timely account reconciliations.
  • Conduct financial analysis, interpreting data and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Reporting and analysis of results involving in-depth analysis of actual results versus forecast/budgets ensuring that key operating drivers are understood.
  • Communicate, escalate, and coordinate with staff, plant accountants, segment leads, functional department heads and third-party service providers to obtain and/or transmit information needed for analysis, forecast, journals and reconciliations.
  • Implement process improvements, identifying areas of inefficiencies and proposing strategic solutions.
  • Identify control weaknesses and suggest process improvements to make sure that effective controls are maintained over the financial accounting and reporting for the company.
  • Ensure SOX compliance which includes maintaining adequate process documentation to satisfy internal control, quality and user requirements.
  • Create detailed process documentation, ensuring accounting implications of processes are clearly understood.
  • Overall coordination and responsibility for the annual audit of the company. Interface with internal and external audit.
  • Lead or support team and/or Company-level special projects. Projects may range from process improvement, standardization, documentation, integration and automation across one or several classes of transactions, departments or entities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
