Description:
GENERAL DENTIST, DEPARTMENT OF DENTAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SCIENCES
The Department of Dental and Maxillofacial Sciences, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, in conjunction with the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry, is conducting a search for a fulltime general dentist. The position is suitable for an experienced dentist with excellent clinical and interpersonal skills, as well as accomplishments in academic research and education. The mandate of the position is to support the strategic direction of the Department and the Hospital in the provision of general dental care to patients with medical and orofacial complexity and to participate in resident training.
The Department of Dental and Maxillofacial Sciences is integral to a number of Sunnybrook Programs, most notably Cancer and Trauma. It is home to the largest oral medicine and pathology practice and one of three multidisciplinary craniofacial prosthetics units in Canada. Generalists and specialists provide comprehensive care for medically complex and special needs patients. The Department supports the educational programs of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto and is a core training site for several graduate specialty training programs.
The preferred candidate will have completed an accredited dental degree, be eligible to practice dentistry in Ontario and qualify for an appointment in the Faculty of Dentistry. Candidates must have completed an accredited hospital based general practice residency or equivalent programme, and have at least three years of clinical experience, preferably in a hospital setting. Candidates should also have expertise in the provision of dental care to the elderly and to medically complex patients, including, but not limited to, those with traumatic injuries, head and neck cancer and special needs.
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) is an academic health sciences centre located in Toronto, Ontario. It is a world leader in trauma care, emergency and critical care, brain sciences, heart and stroke disorders, high-risk maternal and fetal care and musculoskeletal care. Both SHSC and the University of Toronto are among the top 100 employers in Canada.
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the University of Toronto are committed to diversity within their communities and welcome applications from qualified women and men, members of visible minorities, aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities, members of sexual minority groups and others who may contribute to further diversification of ideas.
