Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the legal services team provides high quality legal advice and support to AT.
  • Coordinating the provision of this advice through our internal legal team and external legal advisors.
  • Driving a programme of operational improvements to achieve strong team performance and a continued focus on customer service.
  • Maintaining high levels of engagement with AT business leaders.
  • Providing coaching and technical guidance to the legal team.
  • Fostering and maintaining strong working relationships and partnerships across all AT business areas and with external stakeholders.
  • Preparing the annual legal services plan covering work activities, training and stakeholder relationships.
  • Liaise with Auckland Council and other CCOs to ensure consistency and efficiency in delivery of legal services

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Strong leadership skills and a proven track record of leading and influencing across an oranisation
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Law and hold (or eligible for) a current NZ Practising Certificate.
  • Admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.
  • Be a Senior lawyer preferably with a minimum of 12 years post qualification experience in one or more of these areas of speciality; property, transport, commercial law, public law, and litigation.
  • Good understanding of the local government or public sector regulatory environment and political framework.
  • Experience in use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint.
  • Able to maintain professional and positive relationships at a senior level.
  • Able to sustain a high level of energy and positivity during times of extreme pressure.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
