Description:
We are looking for an experienced and proactive General Manager to join the leadership team of our Soft Facilities Management division at our renowned NHS hospital in London.
As General Manager, you will lead our soft services facilities team with a focus on the Cleaning and Portering Services teams, ensuring smooth, high-quality support across a busy hospital that serves approximately 1,000 staff and numerous patients and visitors each day.
Your leadership will be essential to upholding the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and support services throughout the hospital, creating a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Proven management experience in a hospital or healthcare environment, specifically in cleaning, portering, or facilities management is desirable
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to engage, develop, and manage a diverse team across varied shifts and responsibilities.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills, able to work effectively with staff, patients, and other hospital stakeholders.
- Competent in budget management and operational planning.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, solving problems efficiently and maintaining high standards under pressure
- Customer Focus: A commitment to delivering exceptional customer service, with an understanding of the unique challenges of a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Management: Supervise and inspire all the soft FM services. This hospital has large cleaning and portering teams, therefore a particular area of focus will be here, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and compassionate service.
- Operational Oversight: Work with the Department Managers to oversee daily cleaning schedules, porter activities, catering services, waste management, and transport of patients and equipment, ensuring services run seamlessly and meet NHS standards.
- Compliance & Standards: Work with the Department Managers to Maintain full compliance with NHS cleanliness, hygiene, and health & safety protocols, conducting regular audits, risk assessments, and training sessions to uphold quality.
- Resource Management: Work with the Department Managers to Manage staffing levels, rotas, and budgets effectively to meet hospital needs, ensuring high standards within allocated resources.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with clinical and administrative teams to understand and respond to operational needs and service improvement opportunities.
- Quality Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement, recommend new practices or technologies, and implement initiatives that enhance service delivery, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
