The General Manager – Cooling Towers, will have accountability for the Cooling segment’s performance including P&L, team development, strategic marketing and sales and operations. The successful candidate will be an effective representative of the brand, foster productive relationships with customers and internal stakeholders, and seek out new opportunities to grow the Cooling segment. Strong skills in collaboration and negotiation are key to success in this role.
Overview of Responsibilities
- Leads the Cooling team to achieve results.
- Has a continuous improvement mindset, always looking to learn and grow within their role.
- Is a skilled communicator, collaborates effectively with all stakeholders both internal and external.
- Monitors and manages budget and financials, making business decisions to adjust direction as necessary to meet goals. Communicates business plans and updates with leadership.
- Effectively estimate projects given both customer and business requirements.
- Manage Cooling Tower sales goals and sales activity; has accountability for achievement of sales and margin goals.
- Actively pursue key accounts and new prospects.
- Supports the marketing and sale of new towers and reconstruction jobs and repairs.
- Develop and cultivate customer relationships by meeting with customers, conducting presentations, and discussing existing and new projects.
- Negotiates contracts including pricing and terms and conditions with customers.
- Respond to functional and technical requirements of new projects, requests for proposals, technical service issues, and other customer centric inquires.
- Effectively coaches and develops the Cooling team for growth.
- Travel to customer sites as required throughout North America.
- Other responsibilities and activities as required to support the success of the business segment.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum 5-7 years related experience in business segment management
- Bachelors degree or equivalent, ideally Engineering
- Mechanically inclined, technical background
- Financial acumen
- Experience in a Construction project environment would be an asset
- Proven communication, collaboration and negotiation skills
- Willingness and ability to travel in Canada and US– up to 40%
