Description:

An exciting opportunity for a General Manager for Cancer Services has arisen at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.
We are seeking a dynamic leader to oversee the operational and administrative functions of Cancer Services, ensuring compliance with contractual and performance requirements, including Cancer PTL management and demand forecasting. You will be responsible for managing the Trust’s performance against Cancer Waiting Times Standards, identifying risks, and implementing corrective actions to ensure high standards of care.
Working collaboratively across departments, you will lead the delivery and improvement of cancer services, ensuring integration of medical, nursing, and professional teams to drive service growth and redesign in line with the Trust’s strategic goals. You will provide expert guidance on cancer service delivery and pathway design, keeping up-to-date with local and national policies.
This role involves managing Oncology and Palliative care services, external cancer performance data submissions and ensuring robust governance systems for safe and effective service delivery. You will oversee the Cancer Quality Surveillance Programme, ensuring accurate governance and operational documentation across specialties.
As a key representative of the division, you will engage with external partners, commissioners, and regulatory bodies, ensuring Cancer Services align with broader Trust objectives and demonstrate value for money.
Responsible for the operational delivery, performance and governance for an agreed portfolio of clinical services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards.
Responsible for achieving financial, quality, performance, productivity, and workforce targets, both locally and nationally, as outlined in business planning, appraisal, and personal development processes.
Responsible to establish and maintain robust internal controls to ensure effective financial management and resource allocation in alignment with the Trust’s financial plan and governance requirements. This includes delivering contracted activity levels, managing pay and non-pay expenditure within agreed budgets, achieving cost improvement targets, and supporting service line profitability.
Lead the implementation of capital schemes and service developments within the assigned portfolio, ensuring adherence to procurement processes and successful delivery of projects on-time and within budget.
Responsible for establishing and maintain effective structures and control systems for staff management, encompassing recruitment, appraisals, development, and support, in line with the Trust’s HR policies and procedures.
Lead engagement with internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaborative relationships to enhance communication and ensure the successful delivery of the business plan and strategic objectives.
