Description:

AIM Environmental Group Inc. Through our advanced organics anaerobic digestion processes and aerobic composting facilities across Canada; we contribute to the circular economy by generating renewable natural gas, reducing waste, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and creating value-added by products such as Category A premium finished compost and organic fertilizers.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The General Manager (GM) will provide overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight of an organics processing facility that handles municipal organic waste streams. This facility utilizes multiple processing technologies—such as aerobic composting, anaerobic digestion, and other resource recovery systems—to convert organic waste into valuable end products while meeting sustainability, compliance, and profitability goals.
The GM is responsible for ensuring the facility operates in strict accordance with environmental, health and safety regulations, client contract requirements, and established best practices. This role involves collaboration with municipal representatives, regulators, internal corporate teams, and external stakeholders to optimize both environmental and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS in Environmental Management, etc.) preferred but not mandatory.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 7–10 years of management experience in waste management, organics processing, recycling, waste to energy or a related environmental services industry.
  • Proven track record of leading complex operations with multi-technology processing (e.g., composting, waste water treatment, anaerobic digestion, RNG ).
  • Demonstrated success managing large-scale infrastructure, ideally under contract to municipal or public agencies.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, including governmental, regulatory, and community relations.

LEADERSHIP SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in a high-paced operational environment.
  • Ability to provide leadership support to foster autonomy, role ownership and full accountability.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for managing relationships with clients, regulators, corporate leadership, and community stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
