Description:
Reporting to the President and Executive Committee of SASW
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead our organisation, providing strategic direction and operational oversight to achieve our mission and objectives. The successful candidate will have a strong background in management, leadership, and prior experience in social work practice or in social services is an advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the organisation, aligning with the President and Executive Committee’s vision and objectives.
2. Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organisation, ensuring effective management of resources, programs, and services.
3. Membership and Marketing: Develop and implement strategies to promote membership, manage the online application system, and enhance the overall member experience.
4. Events and Public Relations: Organise and manage events, such as Social Work Day, and oversee public relations, media coverage, and publications.
5. Training and Development: Develop and implement training programs, workshops, and conferences to enhance the skills and knowledge of social workers.
6. Financial Management: Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting, ensuring the organization’s financial sustainability and compliance with regulatory requirements.
7. Human Resources: Lead and manage the human resources function, including recruitment, talent development, and employee relations.
8. Governance and Compliance: Ensure the organisation’s compliance with regulatory requirements, laws, and best practices, and provide guidance on governance matters.
Requirements:
1. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (minimum)
2. Experience: At least 5 years of senior management experience in a social service organisation or related field.
3. Skills: Strong leadership, management, and communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of social service principles, practices, and policies, as well as business management and financial management principles
