Description:

On behalf of our client, Fork & Wheel is now looking for a General Manager to join our team. The role will lead the operations of our premises, ensuring exceptional service and high standards. This is a senior role requiring a candidate experienced in hospitality management, with strong leadership, commercial, and strategic skills.
This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations, ensuring customer satisfaction, managing costs, developing and implementing beverage menus, maintaining hygiene standards, managing staff, and collaborating with various departments to enhance the restaurant’s mission and objectives.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3 years’ experience in a similar role at the General Manager level.
  • Ability to manage teams of over 30 staff.
  • Hands-on experience in high-volume customer service environments.
  • Experience with menu changes and collaboration with Head Chefs.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and attention to detail.
  • Strong commercial understanding and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure exceptional customer satisfaction through outstanding service.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Restaurant and Bar, maintaining high standards.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and chair operational and sales meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef on food and beverage standards and group events.
  • Address guest complaints and resolve recurring issues.
  • Maintain property standards and ensure routine maintenance.
  • Ensure IT systems function as required.
  • Set strategic commercial goals and make operational decisions to grow the business.
  • Cultivate a strong team of leaders to maintain profit margins and implement business plans.
  • Develop and implement beverage menus in alignment with the restaurant’s concept.
  • Monitor beverage trends and ensure competitive pricing.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety and fire regulations.
  • Chair monthly health & safety meetings and prepare for audits.
  • Assist with HACCP compliance and conduct risk assessments.
  • Foster team spirit and communicate strategies to staff.
  • Own the recruitment, retention, and performance management of all Front Office colleagues.
  • Ensure statutory and operational training for colleagues.
  • Develop supervisors through training and identify skill gaps.
  • Assist in compiling managing annual business plans, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Ensure payroll and expenses are within budget.
  • Conduct monthly stock takes and ensure good stock control.
  • Review financial performance and address discrepancies.
  • Act as a brand ambassador and collaborate on marketing strategies.
  • Promote the Fork & Wheel product offering and manage booking enquiries.
  • Represent Fork & Wheel at local business events.
  • Participate in company initiatives and attend training sessions.
  • Reflect the restaurant’s mission and objectives in all activities.
