What we are looking for
We are looking for a self-motivated and results oriented General Manager to direct and manage one of our business units mainly serving the North American market. This role is accountable for leading a team of leaders to deliver sustainable growth and profitability for the business unit. The successful candidate will possess abilities and experience to fulfil duties that include allocating budget resources, coordinating business operations, managing operational costs, ensuring the business provides exceptional customer service, identifying business opportunities, and monitoring financial activities. The General Manager’s primary focus will be directing business functions, maintain relationships with our customers, generate new business, increase staff productivity, improve our service levels, ensure sustainability, and meet business objectives.
Key objective of the General Manager is to serve the needs of public transport authorities and service operator customers who are seeking innovative technology solutions through:
- Development and Implementation of a clear strategic plan, P&L ownership, and accountability, and operational performance of a Trapeze business unit
- Ensuring forecasts of business results are realistic and achievable.
- Overseeing support of existing clients, ensuring their utilization of deployed solutions is maximized, and that customer engagement is exemplary, as measured by customer satisfaction levels and back to base sales.
- Overseeing provision of account management services to existing clients, ensuring we grow our share of wallet through increased solution usage, expanded solution breadth and new department sales.
- Strategically leading achievement of new logo sales goals, by focusing the team on opportunities that have been researched, qualified, and tactically targeted.
- Ensuring a high degree of staff engagement and performance.
Responsibilities
Working under the guidance of the Group Leader and in collaboration with Group Leadership team, undertake the following responsibilities:
- Develop and execute business strategies that enable attainment of company goals:
- Achieve strong year over year organic growth (>=10%) and profitability across the business by overseeing the sale of products and services to new and existing customers
- Working with the leadership team, prepare and execute a detailed plan that will lead to an organic growth CAGR of 10% over the next 5 years
- Assess the future of the business and make investment recommendations supported by a strategic business plan and financial output Ensure customer implementations are closely managed to achieve on-time deliverables and gross margins in excess of 40%
- Maintain strong customer relationships to ensure customer attrition is < 5%
- Provide leadership to all team members, setting SMART goals and monitoring their attainment, and ensuring delivery of agreed employee development plans
- Support the development of a healthy internal culture that retains key employees and encourages professional growth and development
- Ensure accurate financial management and active participation in quarterly business reviews
- Provide strategic advisement to the Group Leader and keep leadership team aware of developments within the industry and region
- Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement of cost-effective operations and market development activities
- Ensure company policies and legal guidelines are communicated effectively and are followed.
- Oversee and manage business operations and resources of the business unit while ensuring compliance with:
- Design and direction of technology products and solutions
- Delivery and ongoing support of solutions implemented with our customers
- Sales and commercial content to contribute to winning tenders and sales proposals
- Commercial and contractual engagement with our clients, partners and suppliers, in collaboration with legal counsel
- Policies and guidelines set out by the portfolio and portfolio group
- Provide effective leadership, mentoring and day-to-day line management of all direct reports, including overseeing annual talent management processes
- Recruit and retain the right people into the right roles, ensuring motivated, trained and developed team members for the achievement of objectives and goals
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a relevant industry related discipline
- 5 years of experience successfully overseeing the implementation and support of complex technology solutions
- Proven track record of success in a senior level management with a minimum 5 years of experience working as a General Manager or COO leading an enterprise technology business
- Thorough knowledge of market, market changes and forces that influence company performance
- Experience in developing and implementing effective strategic and business plans
- Passenger Transport industry experience regarded but not essential
- Strong Microsoft Suite Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

- Proven ability to deliver results and achieve business efficiency whilst engaging a highly motivated and self-directed team.
- Organizationally savvy and openness to understand company culture and the origin and reasoning behind key policies, practices and procedures
- Strong crisis management skills
