Job description
Our client is currently recruiting for the position of General Purpose Technician, based in offshore.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment for production, utility and marine systems.
  • Assist in stores and supplies handling.
  • Assist in lifting operations.
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding.
  • Assist in condition monitoring of utility equipment and machinery. Report abnormalities.
  • Ensure cleanliness is maintained.
  • Assist in tank entry safety arrangements and equipment preparation.
  • Perform tank works (cleaning, scale removal and maintenance assistance).
  • Assist in bunkering operations.
  • Perform waste collection, segregation and processing.
  • Use and maintain hand tools and instruments. Use workshop equipment.
  • Use the Permit to Work system. Follow the Permit to Work procedures. Complete the required checklists. Prepare the worksite. Ensure safe conditions are maintained. Close the Permit.
  • Undertake training relevant to the position requirements.
  • Assist in marine operations i.e. connect/ disconnect of offload tanker.
  • Assist in helicopter operations.
  • On-the-job-training of colleagues and trainees.
  • Inspection and first line maintenance of safety equipment.
  • Member of Emergency Response Team.
  • Assist in any other work specified by Department Head.

Requirements

Experience

  • Offshore UK and FPSO / Tanker experience is desirable.
  • Previous work in a multinational environment is desirable.
  • Previous experience as GP Maintenance, GP Marine, Roustabout, Fitter, Motorman or higher ranks on offshore facilities or marine vessels.

Interpersonal skills

  • Good Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility, honesty and reliability are considered important factors.

Knowledge

  • Fluent Oral and Written English.
  • According to the Unit Training Matrix.
  • Good Computer Skills.
